What happened: Petesy Carroll said the MMA feeder pool has changed because of the Contender Series. Promotions such as LFA and Cage Warriors now prioritize undefeated records over difficult matchmaking, he said. The tests that once established a promotion's best fighters happen less often.

Why it matters: The shift leaves fewer proven headliners emerging from the regional scene. Prospects arrive with clean records but without experience against equal competition. That reduces the major fights regional promotions once built around.

What to watch: Watch whether regional promotions adjust matchmaking to prioritize tougher tests. The debate will continue around how prospects earn promotion to larger organizations.
