What happened: The transaction opens a 24-hour claim window before a possible assignment to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. Iorio and Sheary cleared waivers from Tuesday's list and are free to be assigned.

Why it matters: Opening-night rosters are coming into focus during the 2026-27 preseason, forcing teams to move depth players through waivers. Clearing would let Carolina keep Primeau in the organization without using an NHL roster spot.

What to watch: If Primeau goes unclaimed, he can report to Chicago and remain available as a call-up option.
