CHANDLER SIMPSON GO-AHEAD TRIPLE! https://t.co/3qrpyZffD7 Via @MLB on X

What happened: Chandler Simpson delivered a two-run, go-ahead triple to turn a one-run deficit into a 2-1 postseason lead.

Why it matters: The clutch hit marks the franchise's first postseason triple in six years and comes after Simpson was left out of the starting lineup for the ALCS opener so his speed could be saved for late-inning situations.

By the numbers: Simpson entered late September carrying a .311 batting average and 44 stolen bases, becoming a back-to-back 40-steal threat across his first two MLB seasons.

What to watch: Holding a 2-1 edge, the club looks to protect the narrow lead through the late innings as the ALCS continues.
