What happened: Chase Meidroth accounted for five of Chicago's six runs Wednesday night. His homer was his 16th of the season and his second straight game with a homer.

Why it matters: Carrying that share of the scoring underscores his central role in the lineup down the stretch. The power uptick follows his two-homer game on Sept. 12, with homers now in consecutive games.

What to watch: Chicago moves to its next game to close the late-September stretch. Meidroth's run-production spot is the lineup detail to track.
