What happened: Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes dismissed offensive tackle Josh Simmons from an offensive meeting for sitting with his feet up before he later apologized, per Mike Garafolo and RapSheet via ESPN NFL. Kansas City placed Simmons on injured reserve Thursday due to a herniated disk.

Why it matters: The Chiefs selected Simmons 32nd overall in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. His placement on injured reserve with a lower-back issue leaves Kansas City without the offensive tackle while holding the No. 1 seed.

By the numbers: Kansas City holds a 5-0 record on a five-game winning streak following a 22-6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 18.

What to watch: The Chiefs take on the Seattle Seahawks in Sunday's scheduled regular-season game with Simmons on injured reserve.
