What happened: Simmons traded words with Reid during a team meeting last week, according to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. The Chiefs placed Simmons on injured reserve Thursday with a lower-back injury.

Why it matters: The Chiefs had already ruled Simmons out for Sunday. His injured-reserve placement extends his absence beyond that game.

What to watch: Further team comments may clarify whether the meeting has any consequences beyond Simmons's injury absence.
