What happened: Indianapolis dismissed Ballard following a 26-20 home defeat. Buckner and Taylor have surfaced as trade candidates ahead of the deadline.

Why it matters: Moving either veteran would reshape Indianapolis draft capital and the locker-room core. Further turnover comes while the secondary absorbs the loss of Gardner to a calf strain.

What to watch: Deadline activity and the next front-office appointment will define the direction.
