What happened: Columbus Crew selected Dr. Pete to lead the pregame ignition ceremony ahead of tonight's tournament final in Columbus.

Why it matters: The pregame nod bridges the club's 2002 U.S. Open Cup championship roots with the 2026 title match, honoring a long-tenured figure who transitioned from the medical staff into the ownership group.

What to watch: Kickoff follows the pregame ceremony in Columbus with the 2026 U.S. Open Cup trophy on the line.
