What happened: Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck stated Monday that he is ready to suit up for the New Jersey Devils, per Frank Seravalli. Speaking after the deal that sent him from the Winnipeg Jets to New Jersey, Hellebuyck said the time is not right yet to explain his departure or why he wanted to leave Winnipeg.

Why it matters: Hellebuyck's availability clears the way for his debut with New Jersey following the trade that brought the longtime Jets goaltender to the Devils. Stepping straight into the lineup gives New Jersey an immediate starter in goal during the regular season.

What to watch: New Jersey will set Hellebuyck's debut start in net now that he has declared himself ready for game action.
