What happened: The transaction ends Slayton’s seven-season run after he arrived as a fifth-round pick in 2019. Slayton made the initial 53-man roster one day before his release.

Why it matters: Slayton signed a three-year, $36 million contract in March 2025 and had $9.75 million guaranteed for 2026. He can now seek a new club before the regular season begins.

What to watch: Watch whether Slayton signs elsewhere before Week 1 and whether a corresponding receiver move follows.
