What happened: Grant Delpit said Mike Rutenberg designs defensive plays like an offensive coordinator, while Quincy Williams said no one watches more film. The comments came Thursday as Cleveland prepares for its 2026 opener.

Why it matters: Rutenberg is installing his approach in his first season as defensive coordinator. The same Grant Delpit who signed a three-year, $48 million extension is among the veterans expected to carry that approach onto the field.

What to watch: The Browns' first live test comes Sunday in Jacksonville. Watch how quickly the defense communicates and adjusts under Rutenberg.
