What happened: Devin Carter recorded 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists in preseason action against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The guard shot 5-for-9 from the field and added two steals, finishing plus-22 overall.

Why it matters: The strong showing provides momentum for Carter, who joined Boston after agreeing to a camp deal in September. The former Sacramento Kings guard was traded to Atlanta over the summer before catching on with the Celtics.

What to watch: Carter will look to secure a permanent roster spot as Boston's preseason schedule continues.
