What happened: Dodson becomes a free agent after Miami finalized its initial 53-man roster Sunday. The Dolphins acquired McCord from the Green Bay Packers for a 2028 sixth-round pick after trading Quinn Ewers, putting McCord behind Malik Willis.

Why it matters: Miami's linebacker depth now turns more heavily toward 2026 draft picks Jacob Rodriguez and Trey Moore. Dodson recorded 129 tackles for the Dolphins last season after arriving on waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.

By the numbers: Dodson: 129 tackles last season; $3 million salary.

What to watch: Watch whether Miami adds linebacker depth through waivers or its practice squad before the 2026 opener.
