Cook returns three days after Oct. 10 waiver

Roster Moves | We have signed quarterback Brady Cook to the practice squad and released running back Jarquez Hunter from Via @MiamiDolphins on X

What happened: Miami brought Cook back three days after waiving him on Oct. 10 to activate Kenneth Grant. Hunter exits the practice squad after arriving from the Rams in an August trade for Tutu Atwell.

Why it matters: Cook, in his second NFL season out of Missouri, preserves quarterback depth without using an active-roster spot. Hunter, a 2025 fourth-round pick out of Auburn, becomes expendable as Miami reshapes its practice-squad backfield.

By the numbers: Cook completed 88 of 153 passes for 739 yards with 2 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 5 games with the Jets in 2025. Hunter was selected 117th overall in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

What to watch: Miami could elevate Cook for game-day depth. The open practice-squad running back spot is the next addition to track.
