What happened: Philadelphia expects Greenard's pectoral strain to cause only a brief absence. Rush had been a free agent since his release in March.

Why it matters: The designation temporarily removes Greenard, acquired and extended in April, from the Eagles' training-camp work. Rush adds veteran depth to Atlanta's quarterback room for the upcoming season.

What to watch: Greenard's return to practice is the next marker for Philadelphia. Rush's workload will clarify his initial role in Atlanta.
