Pick hints at impending AJ Brown exit. Video

What happened: Philadelphia Eagles drafted USC wide receiver Makai Lemon late in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The selection comes amid ongoing trade speculation surrounding star WR AJ Brown. Lemon, a speedy deep threat, fills a potential void in the Eagles' receiving corps.

Why it matters: Brown's $30M+ cap hit strains Eagles' salary cap as they aim to bolster defense and O-line in free agency. Lemon's addition signals a youth movement at WR, potentially shifting betting futures for Eagles' 2026 offense. Historically, Eagles have traded high-salary vets post-draft to retool.

By the numbers: Lemon 2025 college stats: 92 rec, 1,347 yds, 14 TD (USC). Eagles 2025 record: 11-6, NFC East 2nd. Eagles Super Bowl (pre-draft) (post-pick). Brown trade value est: 2nd-round pick +.

What to watch: Monitor AJ Brown trade market over weekend; Eagles may shop him before rookie minicamp.
