What happened: Philadelphia is placing quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve indefinitely after further consultations with medical experts Saturday, per Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter. The Eagles initially held off on an injured reserve decision before a Wednesday follow-up ultrasound showed movement in a superficial calf clot first detected Oct. 10 in London.

Why it matters: Hurts first sought calf treatment Oct. 8 after being cleated against the Los Angeles Rams, then played without limitation against the Jacksonville Jaguars after doctors cleared him for activity. Moving to injured reserve sidelining him for at least four games hands the offense to 2023 draft pick Tanner McKee, who has appeared in six career NFL games.

What to watch: McKee makes his Week 6 start Sunday against the Carolina Panthers while Hurts remains out without a timetable for return.
