What happened: Ball joined Minnesota ahead of the 2026-27 opener, pairing his playmaking with Edwards in the backcourt. Edwards said the offense runs through Ball's playmaking advantage entering camp.

Why it matters: Minnesota is aligning its timeline around two high-usage guards, making shot distribution the early adjustment. How quickly the pairing sorts roles will shape the rotation before the home schedule begins.

What to watch: The road opener offers the first full-game look at minutes, touches and closing combinations.
