Elijah Bieniemy court dates delayed for mental health evaluation

He remains jailed on three felony charges.

Two court appearances scheduled for the 27-year-old son of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy in connection with Via @AdamSchefter on X

What happened: A Thursday motions hearing and an Aug. 31 preliminary hearing were continued pending the evaluation. Bieniemy, 27, remains in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center as the investigation continues.

Why it matters: Eric Bieniemy remains away from the Kansas City Chiefs, with Joe Bleymaier and Andy Heck assuming most of his duties. Mia Bieniemy has left intensive care and is improving, Andy Reid said.

By the numbers: Bieniemy faces three charges: malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling.

What to watch: Revised court dates are expected after the mental health evaluation.
