What happened: Joel Embiid was assessed a technical foul as tempers flared in the Philadelphia 76ers' game against the Detroit Pistons, ESPN reported.

Why it matters: Philadelphia was 7-1 and sharing the top spot in the Nov. 3 power rankings, so Embiid's emotional temperature is worth tracking for a team in rhythm.

What to watch: Embiid's season technical count is the number to track; 16 triggers an automatic one-game suspension.
