What happened: Philadelphia's annual Blue x White scrimmage filled Xfinity Mobile Arena on Saturday as Joel Embiid moved well at both ends and Vj Edgecombe supplied one of the afternoon's sharper sequences. Embiid hard-hedged on defense, got up for a block attempt on Edgecombe in the open floor and looked more comfortable playing without visible restriction.

Why it matters: For the 76ers, October signs from Embiid matter more than any intrasquad result because the roster's ceiling still starts with his availability and movement. Edgecombe's pop also gives Philadelphia another development track to watch as preseason roles begin to firm up.

What to watch: The next read comes when Philadelphia shifts from scrimmage action into preseason games and the rotation sharpens. Embiid's workload and Edgecombe's carryover against outside competition will be the key follow-ups.
