“We’re going to be seeing Aaron Rodgers connecting with DK Metcalf early and often.” @bepryor reports from Steelers tra Via @ESPNNFL on X

What happened: Pittsburgh opened training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe after players reported July 28. ESPN's @bepryor made the projection during the Steelers' first week of work.

Why it matters: An immediate rhythm would give Pittsburgh a clear foundation for its passing game entering 2026. Metcalf provides an established downfield target for the veteran quarterback.

By the numbers: Metcalf enters 2026 with 438 receptions for 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns. Rodgers' 6.1% career touchdown rate ranks first in NFL history among qualifying quarterbacks.

What to watch: The next test is whether the timing holds through preseason work and into Week 1.
