What happened: ESPN's Kiley McDaniel published projected contracts for the top 50 players in the 2026-27 MLB free agent class, including estimates for the biggest stars on the market.

Why it matters: McDaniel describes the class as top-heavy with plenty of intrigue and rumors, which concentrates the largest payouts among a small group of players.

What to watch: Free agency opens after the World Series, when teams can begin negotiating with the players on the list.
