What happened: Darren Dreger calls Kevin Bahl's injury a brutal blow to the Calgary Flames. He expects Conroy to weigh a young defenceman if one is available, or a defenceman on a short-term contract.

Why it matters: Calgary is not interested in simply adding by trade to fill the void, per Dreger, which points to a selective search rather than a quick patch on the blue line.

What to watch: Watch for any Flames move on a young or short-term defenceman as Conroy decides how to cover the opening.
