What happened: Philadelphia announced the roster transaction on Thursday during the opening stretch of the 2026-27 NHL regular season. The remaining 31 NHL clubs now have a 24-hour window to submit a waiver claim for the veteran winger.

Why it matters: Moving Wilson to the waiver wire opens an active roster spot and creates lineup flexibility as Philadelphia manages its forward depth. If he goes unclaimed, the organization can reassign him to its minor-league affiliate.

What to watch: Waiver resolution arrives Friday afternoon, when Wilson will either join a claiming club or clear for a minor-league assignment.
