What happened: Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens announced he will play the 2026 season under the franchise tag, officially ending any speculation of a training camp holdout. Pickens stated he is not disappointed by the lack of a long-term extension and confirmed he will report to camp next month.

Why it matters: The decision secures a vital deep threat for Dallas, who originally acquired Pickens via trade from the Steelers in 2025. By playing on the $27.3 million tag, Pickens keeps the Cowboys' elite receiving duo with CeeDee Lamb intact for a 2026 season that follows Pickens' first career All-Pro selection.

What to watch: Pickens is expected to participate in individual drills during mandatory minicamp before full integration at training camp in July.
