What happened: Tremaine Edmunds will miss the Giants' final 11 games with a right shoulder injury, per the New York Post, after playing every defensive snap through the first six. He landed hard on the shoulder while reaching for an arm tackle on a Kendre Miller third-down run late in the Oct. 18 loss to the Saints. He came back in only for the final kneel-down.

Why it matters: Edmunds was New York's leading tackler and its defensive signal-caller, relaying calls from coordinator Dennard Wilson. Head coach John Harbaugh has said all along that the team has three starting inside linebackers, and on Friday he said, "Micah is ready." Almost all of Edmunds' $11.85 million salary for next season is fully guaranteed.

By the numbers: Edmunds, 2026: every defensive snap in 6 games. Micah McFadden, 2026: 2 defensive snaps; 36 career starts; 11 snaps in 2025 before a season-ending Lisfranc foot injury. Giants: 3-2-1, No. 4 seed, coming off a 34-27 home loss to the Saints (2-4) on Oct. 18.

What to watch: McFadden is the likely pick to take the green-dot helmet next to rookie first-rounder Arvell Reese, which would keep play-calling off the rookie's plate. Reese, Zaire Barnes and rookie Jack Kelly also called the defense in the preseason.
