What happened: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 32 points with six rebounds in the season opener in San Antonio. The 32 points were the game high and powered a road win to start 2026-27.

Why it matters: The back-to-back Kia NBA MVP extended his run of 20-point games to 141 straight. An opening-night 30-point road performance sets an early standard for another MVP campaign.

By the numbers: 32 points (game high), 6 rebounds; 141 consecutive 20-plus-point games.

What to watch: Next is the follow-up to the opener and whether the scoring streak continues into the home slate.
