Gils Arena launches $100K fantasy league for NBA season

Eight-man squads, top five scores count on ESPN system.

What happened: On Gils Arena, Gilbert Arenas said the cast will draft eight-player squads with only the top five scorers counting each night. The league uses ESPN default scoring and runs as a snake draft with 90 seconds per pick.

Why it matters: Arenas said the standings will track through the regular season with the leader taking the prize. The scoring taxes inefficiency with minus-one for missed attempts and minus-two for turnovers, while steals and blocks pay four.

By the numbers: Scoring cited on show: point 1, three-pointer made 1, field-goal made 2, field-goal attempt minus 1, free-throw made 1, free-throw attempt minus 1, rebound 1, steal 4, block 4, turnover minus 2.

What to watch: The draft order starts with Evan Turner at No. 1 and reverses each round through the eighth pick. Season totals will decide the payout.
