What happened: Alejandro Grimaldo is set to complete his move to Atletico Madrid, with the transfer to be signed and sealed. Atletico will pay a fee of around €20m to Bayer Leverkusen, and the player has agreed terms through June 2030.

Why it matters: Grimaldo arrives as a proven attacking full-back to bolster Atletico's flanks, adding set-piece quality and Bundesliga-tested production to Diego Simeone's squad. The move strengthens Atletico's left side for the upcoming campaign and continues an active summer window for the club.

What to watch: Watch for the official club announcement and confirmation of the contract terms once the medical and paperwork are finalized.
