What happened: The 244-foot hit put runners at second and third with one out. A sacrifice fly added another run later in the inning.

Why it matters: The extra-base hit sustained a two-run rally and added separation in a shutout. The club entered the night 75-56, six games off the division lead.

What to watch: The final two innings will determine whether the seven-run cushion holds.
