What happened: Peter Dinwiddie moves from senior vice president of strategy and analytics to executive vice president of basketball operations. Maxwell Kupchak rises from coordinator to director of cap strategy and player personnel, while Bontemps will report to president of basketball operations Onsi Saleh.

Why it matters: The changes expand the leadership group overseeing basketball operations and roster planning under Saleh. Kupchak’s elevation gives Atlanta a director dedicated to cap strategy and player personnel ahead of 2026-27.

By the numbers: Dinwiddie has 20 seasons of NBA front-office experience, including five years at the EVP level before Atlanta. Bontemps spent more than eight years at ESPN, while Kupchak is entering his fourth season with the Hawks.

What to watch: The revised leadership group now turns to Atlanta’s remaining offseason work before 2026-27.
