What happened: Golden State's Gabby Williams said she gave the animated postgame speech to jolt her teammates after the Valkyries lost back-to-back WNBA Finals games, including a 97-71 Game 3 defeat at Atlanta. "I just wanted to show my team something different because we need something different," Williams said, adding that she had to "get out of my comfort zone and try to re-motivate the troops.

Why it matters: Williams admitted her usual "it's alright, we'll figure it out" approach was something head coach Natalie Nakase had pushed her to change. The same Gabby Williams who put Golden State ahead 73-72 with 27.6 seconds left earlier in the playoffs is now trying to stop a skid in which the Valkyries' defensive discipline slipped against Atlanta.

By the numbers: Game 3: Atlanta 97, Golden State 71 (26-point margin). Valkyries losses in the Finals: two straight.

What to watch: Game 4 is next, and it will show whether Williams' message changes how Golden State competes against Atlanta.
