What happened: Miami opens its 2026-27 NBA regular-season schedule against Minnesota on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The opener brings back the same Minnesota Timberwolves squad that visited Miami for a third preseason test earlier this month.

Why it matters: Wednesday's matchup falls within the league's Oct. 21-22 opening-week window as clubs move from camp rotations to full regular-season workloads. Early conference and non-conference results set the baseline before NBA Cup group play begins on Oct. 30.

What to watch: Both teams finalize their active opening-night rosters ahead of Wednesday night's tipoff in Miami.
