What happened: Tomas Hertl scored in the third period to put the Vegas Golden Knights ahead in their playoff matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. The go-ahead goal came as Vegas leaned on heavy offensive pressure, with Hertl pouncing on a rebound in front of the net with 15:12 remaining. The tally broke a tie and shifted momentum back to the Golden Knights on ESPN's national broadcast.

Why it matters: The goal carries weight in a tight series where every period has swung momentum, and Hertl's knack for scoring in high-leverage minutes reinforces his value as Vegas's secondary scoring engine behind the top line. A third-period lead in a playoff game dramatically improves win probability, and another Vegas victory would tighten their grip on the series. It also continues the recent run of Golden Knights scoring outbursts that built their series lead over the Ducks.

What to watch: Watch whether Vegas can lock down the third period defensively and close out the win. A Ducks push in the final minutes — and any Anaheim goalie pull — will define how the series tilts heading into the next game.
