What happened: The right-hander signed a three-year, $54 million contract in January. Imai retains another opt-out after 2027.

Why it matters: Houston can plan its 2027 pitching staff with Imai under contract. His role remains unsettled after he worked as both a starter and a reliever this season.

By the numbers: In 2026, Imai went 6-4 with a 4.93 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 76⅔ innings across 23 appearances, including 15 starts.

What to watch: Houston's offseason plans should clarify whether Imai returns to the rotation or remains in relief.
