What happened: Jacksonville exits its bye week holding a two-game lead in the AFC South while general manager James Gladstone weighs roster additions ahead of the Nov. 10 trade cutoff. Tackle Anton Harrison, the 27th overall pick out of Oklahoma in the 2023 NFL Draft, moved to injured reserve after being diagnosed with a torn ACL during a right knee procedure.

Why it matters: ESPN's Football Power Index gives the Jaguars a 92.1% playoff probability, a 32.5% chance to reach the conference title game, and an 8.4% Super Bowl projection. Each figure ranks fifth in the league behind the NFC-leading San Francisco 49ers and fellow AFC contenders in the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Cincinnati Bengals. Former general manager Trent Baalke once noted that elevating a competitive club into a championship roster is the hardest step in the NFL.

By the numbers: ESPN FPI division title projections: San Francisco 49ers 89.8%, Jacksonville Jaguars 86.9%. Jaguars FPI postseason 92.1% playoffs, 32.5% conference championship, 8.4% Super Bowl (5th in NFL). AFC standings context: Buffalo Bills 5-1 (No. 2 seed, W2 after a 33-30 win at Las Vegas on Oct. 18), Cincinnati Bengals 4-2 (No. 7 seed, W2 after a 35-13 win at Baltimore on Oct. 25), Indianapolis Colts 2-5 (No. 12 seed, L3 after a 16-10 loss at Minnesota on Oct. 25).

What to watch: Jacksonville returns from its bye in Week 8 to face the 2-5 Indianapolis Colts, who have lost three straight games. Gladstone has until the Nov. 10 deadline to finalize any in-season trades.
