What happened: Daniels said he is hoping to play this week, keeping open the possibility of a quick return to Washington's lineup. The update comes two weeks after the Commanders quarterback dislocated his left elbow.

Why it matters: The timing matters because Washington kept Daniels off injured reserve, preserving the chance of a short absence instead of a longer stay. His availability remains a central roster question after the Commanders kept Daniels off IR and listed him questionable on Sept. 29.

What to watch: Watch Washington's final injury designations and Daniels' practice status later this week. That will show whether hope turns into an active return.
