What happened: Washington ruled Daniels out for Sunday after carrying him as questionable earlier in the week. The move leaves Marcus Mariota in line to take the snaps at quarterback.

Why it matters: The Commanders now have to manage another game without the quarterback they drafted second overall in 2024. It also follows Washington's late-September decision to keep Daniels off injured reserve and rule him week-to-week, underscoring that the elbow issue is still affecting availability.

What to watch: Washington's next practice and game-status updates will indicate whether Daniels is getting closer to returning beyond this week. Mariota's workload Sunday should shape the next round of quarterback questions.
