What happened: The New York Jets control three selections in the top 11 of the 2027 NFL Draft order entering Week 8, per Adam Schefter. After starting 2-2 in September, New York has dropped to 11th in the AFC standings following a 28-25 loss on Sunday.

Why it matters: Holding Nos. 6, 9 and 11 gives the front office the draft capital to select a franchise quarterback or package picks to move into the top five. Controlling three selections in the first 11 slots also provides flexibility to add multiple first-round starters on rookie contracts.

By the numbers: New York Jets: 2-5 record, L2 streak, No. 11 AFC seed; current first-round draft slots: Nos. 6, 9 and 11 overall.

What to watch: Draft positioning will shift with Week 8 results and any moves made ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
