What happened: The New York Jets picked Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq with the 16th overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. Sadiq, the top pass-catching tight end on the board, unexpectedly fell to the Jets. No teams traded up to grab him as many draft analysts predicted.

Why it matters: Sadiq addresses the Jets' need for a dynamic receiving threat to support their quarterback in the 2026 season. After a 10-7 finish in 2025, New York eyes AFC East contention with this offensive addition. Draft props on Jets' win total may shift upward.

By the numbers: Draft slot: No. 16 overall Prospect consensus rank: TE1 (#14 overall per mocks) Jets 2025 record: 10-7 (playoff berth) Sadiq college stats (2025): 85 rec, 1,120 yds, 12 TD No notable injury history

What to watch: Monitor Jets' next picks in Rounds 2-3 for offensive line help. Sadiq's rookie contract details expected soon.
