Jets sign EDGE David Bailey to address NFL's second-worst sack total

Bailey bolsters Jets' weak pass rush.

Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Apr 241 min read

What happened: The New York Jets recorded just 26 sacks in the 2025 season, second-fewest in the NFL and their lowest since 1999. Veteran edge rusher David Bailey has signed a three-year deal with the team. Bailey recorded 7.5 sacks with the Cleveland Browns last season.

Why it matters: New York's pass rush struggled mightily, contributing to a 6-11 finish and missing the playoffs. Bailey's addition provides immediate experience and production to a defense needing disruption.

By the numbers: Jets 2025 sacks: 26 (2nd-worst). Bailey 2025: 7.5 sacks, 12 TFL, 45 tackles (Browns). Jets 2025 record: 6-11 (3rd AFC East).

What to watch: Monitor Jets' No. 10 draft pick for further DL help. Watch Bailey's OTAs for integration.
