What happened: The Minnesota Twins are reportedly evaluating trade options for Joe Ryan, revisiting the 2021 blockbuster that brought him to the Twin Cities from the Tampa Bay Rays. Originally acquired for veteran Nelson Cruz, Ryan has since evolved into the anchor of the Minnesota rotation.

Why it matters: Ryan's elite performance and team control have made him a focal point of the 2026 trade market. With the Twins sitting seven games under .500, moving the ace could provide the organization with the high-level prospects needed to reset their competitive window.

What to watch: Minnesota faces Texas tonight in a scheduled matchup with scouts from several contenders expected to be in attendance. The July 30 trade deadline remains the critical date for any potential move.
