What happened: Joey Ortiz launched a go-ahead home run for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Cincinnati Reds. The swing put Milwaukee in front during the matchup with Cincinnati.

Why it matters: Milwaukee entered the day at 50-31, well ahead of a Cincinnati club sitting at 39-43, and the Brewers have controlled this season's head-to-head, leading the season series 4-0. Ortiz providing the lead reinforces Milwaukee's edge over a Reds team that has struggled to keep pace.

By the numbers: Milwaukee is 50-31 on the season, averaging 5.2 runs and allowing 3.7, while Cincinnati is 39-43, scoring 4.3 and allowing 4.9. The Brewers lead the season series 4-0, including recent results of 5-3, 6-5, 2-0 and 2-1.

What to watch: Watch whether Milwaukee's bullpen can protect the lead and whether Cincinnati's lineup can answer late.
