What happened: Cole Hutson and Ryan Leonard provided the assists on the winger's strike with 8:19 remaining in the opening frame.

Why it matters: Kyrou was acquired from the St. Louis Blues in a multi-piece trade this past June. The move sent Connor McMichael, Milton Gastrin and the No. 16 pick the other way.

What to watch: Washington proceeds with its regular-season schedule as the forward continues adjusting to the system.
