What happened: Safety Justin Reid voiced strong support for defensive end Cam Jordan agreeing to a contract for a 16th and final NFL season in New Orleans. Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Reid emphasized that the veteran pass rusher remains essential to the locker room culture. The comments follow an extended negotiation period that ultimately secured the franchise cornerstone's return for the upcoming 2026 campaign.

Why it matters: Retaining a respected figure provides vital stability as the organization navigates the offseason and attempts to build a postseason contender. Younger players can continue leaning on a proven standard-bearer who demonstrates the daily habits required for long-term professional success. His presence anchors a defensive front aiming to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

What to watch: Training camp will reveal how the coaching staff manages the veteran's workload ahead of his farewell tour. The defense must integrate this established dynamic as preparations accelerate for the 2026 kickoff.
