What happened: Washington Commanders rookie Athan Kaliakmanis is playing the remainder of Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. The team hopes starting quarterback Jayden Daniels will return next week against the New York Giants.

Why it matters: Kaliakmanis entered the contest with the game in progress and Washington trailing 17-6. Daniels returned to practice earlier this week with a brace on his left elbow. The Commanders drafted Kaliakmanis out of Rutgers.

What to watch: Washington will evaluate Daniels ahead of their upcoming game against the Giants.
