What happened: Sacramento pursued Walter Clayton Jr. via trade over the weekend and remains interested on the waiver wire. The former No. 18 overall pick is expected to land in Dallas if he clears waivers.

Why it matters: Dallas carries a full 15 standard contracts with an open two-way spot after the Oct. 17 release. Sacramento's weekend trade pursuit shows backcourt need entering the 2026-27 season.

What to watch: Waivers clear Wednesday at 5 PM ET, when Dallas can make a claim official.
