What happened: George Kittle backed a 49ers trade move for a Chargers edge rusher, per New York Post. San Francisco is 5-0 in the 2026 regular season. The target was described as a future Hall of Fame edge rusher.

Why it matters: San Francisco has stayed unbeaten while seeking pass-rush help for the stretch run. A veteran addition fits a first-place push and leaves the club's 2027 draft coverage intact.

What to watch: San Francisco faces a decision before the 2026 trade deadline. The next step is any formal offer or team response.
