What happened: The contract ends Klepov’s NCAA eligibility before his freshman season. He will enter Anaheim’s development pipeline for 2026-27.

Why it matters: Michigan State loses an incoming first-round pick after adding him to its roster. Anaheim can now evaluate Klepov for an NHL job or assign him elsewhere for further development.

By the numbers: Klepov led the OHL with 97 points on 37 goals and 60 assists in 67 games in 2025-26. He became the third player in league history to win Rookie of the Year while leading the OHL in scoring.

What to watch: Klepov’s destination will come into focus during Anaheim’s training camp.
